TBAY-Countryside's Rachel Burns signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Denver and compete in swimming beginning with the 2009-10 season. Burns is coached by Susan Curnutte. A mid-distance freestyle swimmer, she was an All-American and senior national qualifier in the 100 and 200-freestyle and a Junior National qualifier in five freestyle races and four relay races. She was also a three-time Florida 2007 top-10 swimmer in the 100, 200, and 1000-freestyle. At the 2008 Florida state high school meet, she finished second in the 200-free and third in the 100-free, earning All-America status in both. Daughter to Bob and Mary Burns, she holds a 4.38 GPA.
