Florida Junior Olympics
July 2008

TBAY Central’s swimmers placed highly throughout the season-ending championship meets, including Florida Swimming’s Junior Olympics, Senior Championships and Area 3/5 Championships.

At JO’s, the top finishers were almost too many to number, as Central’s swimmers contributed heavily to the team’s 3rd place finish.

Chris Swanson (13) was part of the boys 13-14 relay swimmers that won GOLD in the 200 and 400 free races, and placed 2nd in the 200 medley relay. The boys capped their performance with a 3rd place finish in the 400 medley. Chris finished 5th, in the 50 free , 6th in the 100 free and 100 breast, 10th in the 200 IM, 13th in the 100 fly, and 15th in the 100 back.

Rasmus Skjaerpe (12) also had a strong meet at JO’s with time drops in almost every swim and top finishes for a Silver in the 100 back, (2nd), 200 IM (4th), 50 back, 100 free, and 100 fly. He was also a member of the 2nd place 200 free, 3rd place 400 free and 400 medley relays.

Ten year old Savannah Savitt placed 3rd in the 50 free (32.37) and in the top 16 in all of her events, including the 50 breast, 100 free, 100 breast, and 100 fly.

One of Central’s greatest strengths is certainly in the 13-14 female events. Top relay finishes include 2nd in the 200 free, 3rd in the 400 free, 200 medley, and 4th in the 400 medley races. Swimmers on those relays include Elle Munns, Alexandra Pierovich, Emma Siewert and Rebecca Werdine. Standout performances include Alexander Blustein (13), Elle Munns (14), Max Pierovich (10) and their teammates:

* Alex Pierovich (13), 5th in 200 IM, 4th in 100 breast and 400 IM, 7th in the 200 breast, and 13th in the 100 fly;
* Emma Siewert, 10th in the 100 free, 13th in the 50 free and top 20 finishes in the 100 back, and 200 free;
* Rebecca Werdine, 11th in the 50 free, 13th in the 100bk and strong performances 100 free, 100 fly, 200im and 200 back;

Max Pierovich, age 10, swam all the relays, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 200 IM; and Alex Blustein swam the 200 breast at his first JO meet.
